Qreuz conducted a study of the shape used for call-to-action (CTA) buttons in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the U.K. and Germany. From each of the countries, we chose 20 of the top 50 most-visited sites (with CTAs). These sites were ranked by Alexa, as of May 14th, 2020.
The shape of CTA buttons are can be labelled as “rounded” or “rectangular”. For this study we wanted to break down the rectangular shape further into “soft” and “hard”, referring to how severe the corners are on the CTA button.
All of the CTA buttons in the U.S. were either “rounded”, a “soft-rectangle” or a “hard-rectangle”.
20% of the CTA buttons on the most-visited sites in the U.S. are rounded and 20% are a rectangular shape with “hard” corners. The most popular CTA button shape on the U.S. sites in this study is rectangular with “soft” corners.
