Qreuz conducted a study of the shape used for call-to-action (CTA) buttons in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the U.K. and Germany. From each of the countries, we chose 20 of the top 50 most-visited sites (with CTAs). These sites were ranked by Alexa, as of May 14th, 2020.
The shape of CTA buttons can be labelled as “rounded” or “rectangular”. For this study we wanted to break down the rectangular shape further into “soft” and “hard”, referring to how severe the corners are on the CTA button.
All of the CTA buttons in Canada were either “rounded”, a “soft-rectangle” or a “hard-rectangle”.
30% of the CTA buttons on the most-visited sites in the Canada are rounded and 15% are a rectangular shape with “hard” corners. The most popular CTA button shape on Canadian sites in this study is a rectangle with “soft” corners. This accounted for 55% of the buttons in this study.
