In May, 2020 Qreuz collected data from 100 of the top-visited sites around the world in a call-to-action (CTA) study. One aspect of CTA buttons we wanted to research was the shape these leading sites are using for their CTA buttons.
For the purpose of this study, we focused on 20 of the most popular sites with CTA buttons in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the U.K. and Germany. These sites were ranked by Alexa, as of May 14th, 2020.
The shape of CTA buttons can be simply labelled as “rounded” or “rectangular”. For this study we wanted to break down the rectangular shape further into “soft” and “hard”, referring to how severe the corners are on the CTA button.
All of the CTA buttons in Australia were either “rounded”, a “soft-rectangle” or a “hard-rectangle”.
Only 5% of the CTA buttons on the Australian sites are rounded. 10% are a “hard” rectangle shape and a standout 85% of the Australian CTA buttons in this study were “soft”-rectangular.
